Can participants receive reminders via text (SMS) message?

SignUp's Text (SMS) Reminder feature is currently available to Premium, Campus and Organization Plan members in the US and Canada (standard carrier charges apply). 

Text Reminders for New SignUps

When you create a NEW SignUp, all Participants will be presented with the option to have their reminders sent via text. Participants will receive both text and email reminders when specified in the SignUp’s Settings tab (via the Email Preferences screen). The default reminder setting is 2 days before each Participant’s assignment, but can be set to anytime 1 to 7 days prior.

Text Reminders for Existing SignUps

If you have an existing (ongoing) SignUp and a NEW Participant signs up, s/he will be prompted with the option to have reminders sent via text (same as above).

If Participants already have assignments, they will not be prompted to enter a phone number again and will not see the text message option. They can opt-in to Text Reminders in the My Info screen in the Participant view of the SignUp. To give already signed-up Participants the choice to opt-in to Text Reminders, please follow these instructions:

1) Go to the Messages tab of your SignUp's Organizer view and choose to send a message to Participants with the status of Signed Up.

2) Add and send a message similar to this:

Good news! Text (SMS) reminders are now available on our SignUp. If you wish to receive your reminders via text:

First, please click the link below to enter our SignUp (it's coded to your email address and the site will recognize you).

Then, click the My Info icon (head/shoulders blue icon on desktop) and opt-in to text reminders under your phone number. From a mobile device, the option will be in the three-bar menu (in the My Info. section).
