There are several scenarios when you may want someone to sign up for several days at one time. Examples include:
- attending a 3 day training session
- staffing the Welcome Desk Host for the full first week in August
- supervising volunteers for weekends in March
- joining a weekend clean-up team
Creating a Spot that Spans Several Days
Start in the Add Spots step when planning a new SignUp, or the Spots tab of your SignUp's Organizer view.
Click the orange Create New Spot button and on the Add a Spot screen, add only the FIRST Date of each series of dates. Use the Spot Title and Extra Info sections to make it clear that each SignUp requires a multiple date commitment.
Examples: Organizer View
In this example we have 20 Spots available for a three-day Orientation Workshop happening June 1-3. The Spot title is "Attend Orientation Workshop June 1-3" and the Extra Details section says "One Sign Up is for June 1-3. Please attend ALL dates":
In this example we need one weekend supervisor for all Saturdays in September. The Spot title is "Supervise Weekend Volunteers", the Spot is set for Sept 6, and the Extra Details section says, "This Spot is for all Saturdays in September. By signing up for Sept. 6, you're also signing up to work Sept 13, 20 and 27. Thanks!"
Example: Participant View:
In these scenarios, SignUp will send automated confirmation and reminder notifications to Participants for their first assignment date only. The extra details "One Sign Up is for June 1-3. Please attend ALL dates." or "This Spot is for all Saturdays in September. By signing up for Sept. 6, you're also signing up to work Sept 13, 20 and 27. Thanks!" will be included in the confirmation and reminder messages.
Pro Tip: Once people have signed up, you have the option to give Participants manual assignments for the other dates so they receive automated reminders for them. Learn how: How can I add an assignment for a participant or volunteer?
